Pastor Gullapalli Moses Choudary was born into a Hindu farmer's family in a small village at Kurumaddali, Andhra Pradesh, India. On account of his mother's persistent prayers he accepted Jesus Christ at a young age in the year 1966. Subsequently, he received a call from God to ministry. In order to better train himself for the ministry, he pursued a theological education in India and in the USA. While pursuing his studies, God gave him a vision for the city of Vijayawada.
This city is situated on the banks of the Krishna River where many lakhs of people of diverse faiths live. Propelled by his vision, in 1982, Pastor Moses Choudary moved to Vijayawada. Here, under the banner of "MARANATHA VISVASA SAMAJAM", Pastor Moses Choudary started his ministry.
Since, then hundreds and thousands of people have been blessed by his ministry. The fire of the Lord has motivated him to expand Maranatha Visvasa Samajam into many into different areas. One is the Maranatha Children Home, where nearly 350 orphan children are getting proper education, food and clothing. Many of these children have grown up and become well settled in jobs in India and overseas in many different professions such as areas engineering, medicine.
Another area where Maranatha has expanded is "Maranatha Veda Patasala" (Maranatha Scripture Institute) where many men and women are training to enter into professional ministry. Currently, Maranatha also provides spiritual and financial support for nearly 150 pastors who are graduates of the Patsala. In addition to providing this form of training, on occasion Maranatha also sends people overseas to foreign countries for leadership training.
In addition to the above two areas, there is also the Maranatha old age home, Maranatha Yuva Nidhi (Children's Prayer Partnership Ministry), Maranatha Messenger - its flagship publication, television programming such as the Maranatha Darshanam (7:30am on Tuesdays and Saturdays on MAA TV), and many worship programs on Subhavartha and Suvaartha TV. By the grace of the Lord all these ministries have been a great blessing to thousands of lives in India and in foreign countries.
Pastor Choudary's dream has been to make Maranatha, a model church. In order to fulfill this dream, Pastor Choudary expanded Maranatha Visvasa Samajam to Hyderabad in 1999 and to Visakhapatnam in 2007. He moved to Hyderabad from Vijayawada in 1999 to work to fulfill this dream. Pastor Choudary's third son-in-law Viswa Prasad Alluri and daughter Madhu Latha were appointed by the Lord to continue the ministry in Vijayawada.
Now God is mightily using Pastors Viswa Prasad and Madhu Latha and the church is growing on a daily basis. Many are coming to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, are experiencing answered prayers, healings, and increased depth in their understanding of the Bible, deep and meaningful worship and so on. At present nearly 2000 believers are attending the church service regularly. They are conducting two Sunday worship services from 6:00am to 8:00am and from 8:00am to 10:00pm and also an English service from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Vijayawada is currently the main centre for all these ministries. We covet your prayers and support for all these Maranatha Ministries.
